Afghanistan and Ireland: New members in the ICC Test Cricket

Afghanistan and Ireland were Awarded Test Status by the International Cricket Council (ICC) at a board meeting held in London on June 22nd. The two teams had joined the party to fight for the number one spot. Since Ireland got the permission for ODI cricket in 2007 and Afghanistan in 2011. The ICC was impressed with performances of these teams after they were able to defeat superior countries in world cricket. So these two teams were unanimously allowed to enter the test format.

Considering Players like Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan from Afghanistan were playing tremendously well in their countries respective leagues. And William Porterfield and Kevin O’Brain who had also played superbly for Ireland in various ICC tournament where they defeated teams like Pakistan and England. Nevertheless considering that Test cricket has been going out fashion. the involvement of teams like Ireland and Afghanistan has given new hope to this format of the game. But one thing is for sure, these teams will fight their way to perform well in the game.
