Same Sex Marriage-Something To Be Shameful About?

Same sex marriage refers to the marriage between two people who are of same gender. For eg- A female marrying with another female or a male marrying another male. Same sex marriage is legally allowed in some countries whereas it is not allowed in other. The countries which allow same sex marriages are- Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Columbia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Malta, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, United States and Uruguay. In countries like Austria and Taiwan same sex marriage is expected to be legalised soon. According to the statistics, it is shown that same sex marriage is largely supported in three regions- America, Australia and most of Europe. The only African country which allows same sex marriage is South Africa. In Asian subcontinent same sex marriage is illegal however, Taiwan is ready to allow the same after some civil code amendment.

In 2017, the people of Sydney organised a street parade to celebrate the same sex marriage. The event started in 1978 as a protest march for gay rights and decriminalisation of homosexuality but has since grown into a major tourist spectacle featuring leather, sequins, glitter, lasers and dance music. It is now Sydney’s biggest street party and a major focal point for Australia’s gay and lesbian community. In this street parade in year 2018, 200 floats and groups of street dancers headed by Dikes on Bikes which is a motorcycle club, participated to show their happiness of the allowance of same sex marriage which fully gives freedom to people and in this way the people do not feel regret or shameful by disclosing the likings of same sex or gender. Mardi Gras honoured the 78ers which is a group of people who were involved in the original protest on June 24,1978 as a peaceful march for gay rights. That protest was a very violent protest in which police arrested 53 people who were fighting or protesting for gay rights. However the police has apologised for arresting the people and the brutality shown and now they even march every year in the parade held.

So now in this modern world, same sex marriage is being legal in many countries and it gives a great relief to the victims of same sex marriage who can noe live with thier loved ones throughout thier lives.So same sex marriage is a healthy thing and moreover it increases the business of adoption so that the needy parents can get some money and the other people can be happy by adopting a child.Even numerous polls and studies on the issue have been conducted, including those that were completed throughout the first decade of the 21st century. A consistent trend of increasing support for same-sex marriage has been revealed across the world. Much of the research that was conducted in developed countries in the first decade of the 21st century shows a majority of people in support of same-sex marriage. Support for legal same-sex marriage has increased across every age group, political ideology, religion, gender, race and region of various developed countries in the world.
