You and Me

By your side
being all this while,
I have seen the walls of hell up close.
I know you're not what you seem,
there's a cage behind that pretty smile.
Oh so deep - the secrets that you keep.
Something so warm about you,
the way you've made this purgatory your home.
I will be there,
when you remember and when you don't.
when you care and when you pretend you don't.
when you forget years of love in minutes of anger.
But I will be there,
for one can see no stars with no darkness.
And some days darker than others, some bruises lasting longer than others,
I will accept it all.
I look out the window but I'm still trapped inside.
Following you into the dark,
I run into my own catastrophe.
For anyone can love light.
It is loving darkness that takes courage.
You don't get used to the suffocation,
You die.
And until I don't, I will be there
- by your side.
