Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Israel on July 4, 2017 as a part of his three-day visit. By doing so he became the first ever Indian Prime minister to visit Israel, making history

Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a grand welcome upon his arrival in Israel. After he reached to Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion airport, He was accorded a red carpet welcome by the Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu at the airport to receive him in a grand ceremonial welcome reserved for US Presidents or the Pope. The two leaders greeted each other with shook hands and hugged, and called each other "my friend," in opening remarks.
The Prime Minister will later visit the Yad Vashem Memorial Museum to pay homage to those who lost their lives in genocide in West Jerusalem counts among the greatest tragedies in human history. On Day 2 of his visit, Narendra Modi will have to meet the Israeli President Reuven Rivlin, as per schedule.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a joint statement before taking off the program. The common statement which was reflected in the speech of both prime ministers is the two leaders vowed to defeat the forces of terror. This meeting is significant in many ways as both the leaders seek to strengthen India-Israel relationship on a range of areas including defense and technology by announcing a 40 million dollar funds for innovation.
